Okay, so I stumbled upon this old book, “Diane von Furstenberg’s Book of Beauty,” and I was like, “Hmm, let’s see what this is all about.” I mean, it’s DVF, right? Gotta be something interesting in there.

Digging In

First, I flipped through the pages. It’s got all these sections on skincare, makeup, hair, and even stuff about diet and exercise. It felt very… ’70s and ’80s, you know? Lots of bold colors and that whole “confidence is key” vibe, which I dig.

The Skincare Routine

I decided to try out her skincare routine first. It’s pretty basic, actually. Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. She’s big on using natural ingredients, like, she talks about using yogurt as a face mask. Sounds a bit, messy, but I am always game.

  • Cleansing: I used my regular cleanser, nothing fancy.
  • Toning: I do have some rosewater, and applied it.
  • Moisturizing: Just my everyday moisturizer, and done.

I did the yogurt mask thing, I had some plain Greek yogurt in the fridge. I slathered it on my face, let it sit for like 15 minutes, and then rinsed it off. Honestly, my skin did feel kinda soft afterward. Not bad, DVF, not bad.

Makeup Fun

Next up, makeup. She’s all about enhancing your natural features, not masking them. Which is cool, I’m not into super heavy makeup anyway. She emphasizes good skin, a little blush, some mascara, and a bold lip. Classic.

  • I skipped the foundation, just used a bit of concealer under my eyes.
  • Then, I applied a cream blush, blending into the apples of my cheeks.
  • Curled my lashes, and a couple of coats of mascara.
  • For lips, I went for a bright red. Felt very DVF.

Hair and Other Stuff

I also quickly skimmed the hair section. She’s got tips for different hair types, I have thick and slightly wavy hair, so her tips works for me, nice. She talks about healthy eating and exercise, too. It’s all pretty straightforward stuff, like drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep, and finding an exercise you enjoy.

The Verdict

So, after spending a few days trying out DVF’s beauty tips, what do I think? It’s a fun little trip back in time. Some of the advice is still relevant today, like the emphasis on good skincare and natural beauty. I mean, the yogurt mask was surprisingly effective! It’s not going to replace my entire routine, but it’s a nice reminder that sometimes, simple is best. Plus, it’s DVF. Rocked the red lip!
