Okay, so I’ve been wanting a new crossbody bag for summer, something light and easy to carry around. I didn’t want anything too big, just enough for my phone, wallet, keys, and maybe some lip balm. I started by looking around online for some inspiration, just to get an idea of what styles I liked.

After getting a general idea, I started sketching out some designs. Nothing fancy, just some rough ideas on paper. I played around with different shapes and sizes, trying to figure out what would be most practical and comfortable.

Next, I chose my fabric. I went with a nice, durable cotton canvas in a light beige color. I thought it would be perfect for summer – breathable and easy to clean. I also picked up some matching thread and a zipper.

Then, I created a pattern. This took some trial and error. I used some old wrapping paper to cut out the basic shapes I had sketched, and then I pinned them together to see how it would all fit. I made a few adjustments until I was happy with the size and shape.

Once the pattern was ready, I pinned it to my fabric and carefully cut out all the pieces. I made sure to leave a seam allowance around each piece.

Now for the sewing part! I started by sewing the side seams together, then I attached the bottom piece. It was a bit tricky getting the corners to look neat, but I took my time and it turned out okay.

Next, I installed the zipper. This was probably the most challenging part. I had to be really careful to make sure it was straight and that the fabric didn’t bunch up. I used a lot of pins and went slowly.

After the zipper was in, I sewed the top edges of the bag together, leaving a space for the strap.

For the strap, I cut a long strip of fabric, folded it in half lengthwise, and sewed it together. Then I turned it right side out and attached it to the bag.

  • I made the main body of bag.
  • Then, I finished the zipper part.
  • After I finished, I made a strap and attached it on bag.

And that’s it! My new summer crossbody bag was finished. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s exactly the size I wanted, and it’s super comfortable to wear. Plus, I made it myself, which is always a good feeling!
