Okay so today I wanted to share how my attempt went at getting that super glam Hollywood makeup look without leaving my couch. Seriously, it sounded too good to be true – fancy and easy? Let’s see.

Starting Point: Feeling Super Basic

First off, my face was looking like its usual tired self. Zero glam. Just washed and feeling kinda blah. I figured, hey, why not give this Hollywood thing a shot? Saw this title, got curious.

Step 1: The Base – Making My Skin Look Less Dead

I grabbed my usual moisturizer – nothing fancy, just the drugstore stuff – and slathered it on. Waited a few minutes while scrolling my phone. Felt dry enough, so I squeezed out my foundation. Used my fingers (don’t @ me, I hate washing brushes) and just smeared it around like icing. Took way more blending than I thought! Ended up looking kinda patchy near my ears, so I grabbed a damp sponge I keep around for emergencies and dabbed like crazy. Good enough.

Step 2: The “Sculpting” Nonsense

Alright, contour time. I only have one contour stick, way too dark probably. Found that hollow spot under my cheekbones everyone talks about and swiped it on. Honestly, it looked like dirt on my face. Panicked a bit. Grabbed the blending sponge again and just bashed at it until it looked less like mud and more like… well, maybe bad lighting? Threw on some rosy blush on the apples, didn’t want to look like a doll though. Then dusted the absolute minimum amount of that shimmer highlighter powder stuff on the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, and cupid’s bow. Got a little glittery fallout, whoops.

Step 3: Eyes – Where Things Got Complicated

This is where I always take too long. Took my basic nude eyeshadow palette – the one with about five shades I only ever use two of. Used a big fluffy brush and slapped the lightest shade all over the lid and up to the brow bone. Big improvement already, brightened things up. Then took a darker brown shade (the one that looks kinda taupey) and pushed it into my crease with a smaller brush. Kept going back and forth until it looked blended-ish. Nearly forgot eyeliner! Pulled out my cheap pencil liner (liquid is too scary) and tried to do a thin line along the upper lash line. It went wobbly. Like, always does. Made it thicker to cover the wobbles. Mascara was next – two coats, trying really hard not to blink too soon and smear it everywhere. Made my lashes look decent, finally.

Step 4: Brows and Lips – The Finishing Touches?

My brows are a disaster zone normally. Took a minute to brush them upward with the spoolie end of my brow pencil. Filled in some gaps where they look super sparse, especially the tails. Tried to keep it light, didn’t want blocky brows. Lips… well, this whole look seemed like it needed a bold lip. Found my one true red bullet lipstick, applied it carefully straight from the tube. Got a little outside the lines, grabbed a tissue to clean up the edges. Looked bright! Maybe too bright?

Step 5: Setting It – Hoping It Doesn’t Melt Off

Grabbed my setting spray – basically fancy water in a bottle, feels like. Held it way out from my face and misted myself like I was watering a plant. Gave my face a chance to dry before moving.

The Final Look… Kinda?

So, peeked in the mirror. Honestly? My partner walked by and said, “Whoa, you going somewhere fancy?” which was nice. Did I look like a movie star ready for the red carpet? No way. It felt… heavier than my usual makeup for sure. Like I tried harder. The bright lip felt daring for me. I still saw my messy eyeliner and the places my foundation settled a bit weird, but hey! It definitely had more oomph than my regular daytime look. Maybe it’s Hollywood-adjacent? Closer than I was when I started, which was basically “just rolled out of bed” chic. It took effort, used things I basically already owned, and didn’t look like a total disaster. I’ll call that a small win!
