Okay, so I’ve been wanting to mess around with making my own scents for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. The goal? To whip up something close to my all-time favorite, “Be Enchanted.” It’s not made anymore, and that’s a real bummer. I heard “A Thousand Wishes” might be similar, but nah, it’s not the same.
First things first, I hit up the internet. I found this site called Basenotes, and it’s like a goldmine for perfume info. They have this huge directory where you can look up all the ingredients in your favorite perfumes. I figured I should start by figuring out what made “Be Enchanted” so enchanting in the first place. I found out the main notes – the ones that really stick around – and wrote them all down.
Then came the fun part – shopping for ingredients! I went to a few local stores. I also did some digging on spiritual and magical uses of scents. Like, rose is supposed to be good for love, and mint is for money and luck. I thought, why not add a little extra something-something to my perfume, right?
- Rose: For love, obviously.
- Mint: Who doesn’t want more money and good fortune?
- Patchouli: This one is for grounding, keeping you chill.
- Lavender: I figured this could be good for, like, healing vibes.
- Honey: For sweetness, and maybe some abundance.
- Coffee: A little pick-me-up, for energy.
- Citrus: For a boost of creativity.
Once I had all my goodies, it was time to experiment. I started by mixing a little of this and a little of that. I added a bit more rose, then a touch of lavender. It was a lot of trial and error, sniffing and tweaking, adding a drop of this and a splash of that. I made a bunch of different versions, writing down what I did for each one so I wouldn’t forget.
After playing around for what felt like forever, I finally landed on something that I actually like. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not exactly “Be Enchanted,” but it’s got a similar vibe. It’s sweet and a little bit magical. My friends are loving it so far. I gave some to my friend, she can’t get enough of it.
This whole perfume-making thing has been a blast. It’s like being a mad scientist, but instead of creating a monster, you’re making something beautiful. And the best part is, you get to wear your creation! I’m definitely going to keep experimenting. Who knows, maybe I’ll come up with something even better than “Be Enchanted” someday. For now, though, I’m pretty happy with my magical concoction.
