Okay, so I’ve been seeing “paperbag trousers” all over my Pinterest and Instagram feeds lately. They look super chic, but I was honestly a little intimidated. What are they, really? And how the heck do you style them?
My Paperbag Trousers Journey
First things first, I hit up Google to get a better understanding. Turns out, paperbag trousers are basically high-waisted pants with extra fabric around the waist that you cinch in with a belt or tie. This creates a sort of “scrunched” look, like the top of a paper bag – hence the name!
After doing some more online browsing, I decided to get a couple of things:
- Found some inspiration: I scrolled through tons of pictures to see how different people were wearing them. I noticed that they can be dressed up or down, which is great.
- Checked out different styles: I saw that paperbag trousers come in all sorts of materials – linen, cotton, even denim! There are also wide-leg versions, cropped ones, and even some with tapered legs.
I decided to go for a pair of wide-leg, linen-blend paperbag trousers in a neutral beige color. I figured that would be the most versatile option for my wardrobe. Then I got a black one to see the differences.
When my trousers arrived, I was so excited to try them on!
It’s really easy to get a fasion look.I paired them with a simple white t-shirt and some sandals, and it looked surprisingly good! The high waist really defines your shape, and the loose legs are super comfortable. I’ve also tried them with a tucked-in blouse and heels for a more dressed-up look, and it worked perfectly.
So, that’s my little adventure with paperbag trousers!I absolutely made a right choice.
