My Little Adventure with Perfume A

So, I got hooked on this scent, let’s call it ‘perfume a’. Smelled it on someone, you know how it is, and just had to figure out what it was. Took me a bit, but I eventually pinned it down. The tricky part wasn’t finding the name, it was actually getting my hands on a bottle without feeling like I’d spent a fortune.

First thing I did was hop online. Checked the usual big department store sites. Found it, okay, but the price? Oof. A bit steep for just trying something new based on a whiff in the air. I wasn’t ready to commit that much cash straight away.

Then I thought, maybe I can find a deal somewhere. I started digging around. Went down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at different perfume shops online. That’s when I noticed something interesting. One place, I think it was The Perfume Shop or somewhere similar, had this whole VIP club thing.

I looked into it. Basically, you sign up, and they start throwing little perks at you. Stuff like:

  • Getting free delivery, which is nice ’cause shipping costs can add up.
  • They mentioned free samples sometimes. Always good to try before you buy big.
  • And the one that caught my eye: a discount, like 10% off your favorite scent for a whole year. Now, ‘perfume a’ wasn’t my favorite yet, but the idea was tempting.

While poking around, I also saw mentions of other discounts. Like, if you’re a student, apparently you can flash a UNIDAYS thing and get 15% off. Same deal for Blue Light Card holders, seems they get 15% off too. Wasn’t applicable to me, but it was interesting to see how many little ways there were to save a bit if you knew where to look or who to ask. Made me think about how much extra you pay just by not knowing these things exist.

So, back to my hunt for ‘perfume a’. I considered signing up for that VIP thing just for the potential discount and free delivery. I even popped into a physical store one afternoon. Sprayed it on one of those paper strips, then on my wrist. It’s different on skin, isn’t it? Let it sit for a while, wandered around, kept sniffing my wrist like a weirdo.

In the end, after all that searching and sniffing? I actually held off on buying the full bottle of ‘perfume a’ right away. Seeing all those deals and options made me pause. I did sign up for that shop’s emails, figuring I’d wait for a sale or maybe use that potential ‘favorite scent’ discount later if I was still obsessed. Got a couple of samples though, including ‘perfume a’, just to be sure. It’s funny how sometimes the process of looking for something teaches you more than actually getting it straight away. Still thinking about that scent, though…
