Okay, so I’ve been on this vintage kick lately, and I’ve been hunting for some unique footwear. I was really craving some old-school Puma boots, but I wanted something special, you know? Not just any old pair.
So, I started digging. First, I scoured all my usual online haunts. You know, the big marketplaces and the usual vintage shops, but I could not find what I wanted. I was mostly finding sneakers, not boots.
My Deep Dive Research Begins
Then I got frustrated. I started broadening my search terms. I tried things like “Puma boots vintage,” “Puma women’s leather boots,” and even got specific with colors and styles when I could remember an old ad I saw. Still, not a lot of matches to the style I had in mind.
After that, I decided to hit up some forums and online groups dedicated to vintage fashion and shoes. I figured, who better to ask than people who are super into this stuff? I posted some questions and descriptions of what I was looking for, hoping someone might have a lead.
I also started to research. I learned that “genuine suede” and “genuine leather” can mean different things, and sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart. I read a bunch of articles about how to spot real suede versus faux suede, and how to tell if leather is top-grain, full-grain, or something else. I’m no expert, but now I know a bit more than I used to.
Finally Found them!
Finally, after hours of searching, I stumbled across a small online shop. Bingo! They had a pair of vintage Puma boots that looked pretty close to what I wanted. The description said “genuine suede,” and the photos looked promising. The color was perfect, the style was that perfect mix of sporty and rugged, and they even had my size!
Now, because I’d done my research, I knew to ask the seller some questions. I asked about the condition of the suede, any scuffs or marks, and if they could provide additional photos of the soles and any tags. They were super helpful and sent me a bunch more pictures. The boots looked really good! A little wear, but that’s to be expected with vintage.
My results
I decided to take the plunge and order them. When they arrived, I was thrilled! They were even better in person. The suede was soft, the leather accents were in great shape, and they fit perfectly. I cleaned them up with a suede brush and some leather conditioner, and they looked amazing.
So, that’s my story of finding the perfect vintage Puma boots. It took some time and effort, but it was totally worth it. Now I have a unique pair of boots that I love, and I learned a lot along the way!
